Julia is a qualified UK Athletics coach, and a former international athlete herself who still competes at top level as a veteran marathon and ultra–distance runner.

Her approach to sports performance coaching is holistic and intuitive, working essentially at the core level, and looking to guide you towards mastering the mind/body/spirit connection needed for optimum performance in your chosen field or sport. Working with all aspects of your life in order to create a programme that is integral to your own lifestyle and personality, she will help you understand yourself more deeply, and so ultimately be able to develop the skills and self-knowledge to coach yourself. Although Julia’s coaching expertise is in endurance sport, she works at the psychological and emotional level for any sport or performance-related goal in areas such as:
Fufilling your potential for peak performance
Preparing mentally and physically for competition
Dealing with failure and embracing success
Managing stress and anxiety
Positive ways of dealing with setbacks and disappointments
Fatigue, and strategies for coping with injury
Julia negotiates with her coaching clients the frequency of one-to-one sessions to review and plan the programmes. She pays attention to all aspects of your life, observing the impact of each on athletic performance. The session is designed to continually promote self-awareness in whoever she is working with, giving them the skills to manage themselves effectively and learn how to perform to the very best of their ability. She believes that in setting out to accomplish any sporting goal it is important that the skills you are developing to help you achieve your aims are also ones that you can use to good effect in the rest of your life. Your training with Julia will teach you how to master your life as a whole, not just to achieve an outcome. The training programme will develop you as an individual, and will be designed in a way that is integral to your whole lifestyle, your general health and current fitness level, your capabilities, and your personality.
Format:
The inclusion of medical and physiological tests are optional, and the coaching programme can take place without them. It is your choice.
Initial session/consultation
Lifestyle analysis – This will be an exploration and orientation of your current situation
Medical examination – (optional) Carried out by a registered General practitioner.
Fitness Assessment – (optional) The tests carried out by a qualified physiologist will enable you to determine your current level of fitness. You will be monitored at all times and the tests will be geared to your current state of health and fitness.
Each individual will receive a personal medical and lifestyle report, including a training and development programme.
