The Bare Truth Podcast
'The Bare Truth' is a celebration of the extraordinary in day-to-day living, from the unsung hero to those on a bigger stage. Each week, Julia interviews someone from a different area of interest who is passionate about what they do, who is expressing themselves in their own unique way, and who wants to share what they do with others.
Please feel free to contact Julia with any comments about the show, or if you would like to be interviewed yourself. We also include contact details of our guests where possible - if you'd like more information, why not get in touch?

I met Mike Marten in Benidorm where he was competing in the wheelchair event in the marathon. It was inspiring to talk with him about his experiences as a wheel chair marathon competitor. I eternally find it such a privilege through my podcasts to talk with people about their lives and about who they are. Mike broke his neck when we was 29 years old in a freak water skiing accident and he talked to me candidly about his process of emotional recovery to a position four years after the accident where he felt fully recovered at an emotional level. He said that essentially the process was one of adaption and acceptance and that he wasn’t sure which order that was in – and that the only guarantee in life is that things are always changing.
His wise words and his energy and enthusiasm for life means that as he travels the world competing in marathons he is spreading a powerful energy that communicates that living fully is there was all of us and that we must take each day as an opportunity to be all that we can be and connect with one another. Mike was told that at best he could expect to take a jumper on and off on his own if he got hot or cold; when I was in the queue for the check in to return home from Benidorm I saw Mike whizzing across the airport in his wheel chair pushing his racing wheel chair in front of him and negotiating this all alone and looking like he was having fun!
